Connect Vryne to Claude, ChatGPT & more
Vryne is an MCP server (Model Context Protocol). Claude, ChatGPT and other AI apps can search your organisation’s documents directly — with page references and a link back to Vryne. Sign-in uses OAuth: you sign in to Vryne, pick the organisation and confirm what the app may do.
Server URL: https://vryne.com/api/mcp
Claude
- In Claude (claude.ai or the desktop app) open Settings → Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector, enter “Vryne” as name and
https://vryne.com/api/mcpas URL. Leave client ID and secret empty. - Click Connect. Vryne opens: sign in, pick the organisation, allow access.
- Enable the connector from the tools menu in a chat and ask about your documents.
In Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners add the connector once under Organization settings → Connectors; every member then connects their own Vryne account.
ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT open Settings → Apps & Connectors. Depending on your plan, Developer mode under Advanced has to be on (Business/Enterprise: enabled by an admin).
- Choose Create or Add app, name “Vryne”, URL
https://vryne.com/api/mcp, authentication OAuth. - Sign in to Vryne, pick the organisation, allow access.
- Select Vryne as a source in a chat or in Deep research.
Other MCP clients
Any client with Streamable HTTP and OAuth 2.1 works, for example Claude Code
(claude mcp add --transport http vryne https://vryne.com/api/mcp), Cursor or
VS Code. The client discovers everything else through /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource.
What the app can — and cannot — do
search— semantic search over the documents your organisation released for AI. Returns the best passages with file name, page and link.fetch— reads a document’s text from a found passage onwards (at most 20,000 characters per call).list_documents— lists the documents you may see in the organisation.
Access is strictly read-only: the app cannot upload, change or delete anything. It only sees the organisation you picked when connecting, and never other members’ personal documents. Anyone who leaves or is removed from the organisation loses access immediately.
Searches are not billed separately, but like the chat they require the organisation to have credits and you to have quota left.
Where the data lives
Vryne stores and searches your documents on servers in Germany. The passages a connected app retrieves are then processed by that app’s provider (such as Anthropic or OpenAI) under its own terms and in its own locations. Only connect apps your organisation approves for this data. Details are in the privacy policy.
Disconnecting
Under Settings → Connected apps in Vryne you see every connected app and can disconnect it with one click — access ends immediately. You can also remove the connector in Claude or ChatGPT.
Admins decide under Administration → Settings → Permissions whether members may connect Vryne via MCP at all. If the switch is off, new connections are blocked and existing ones lose access immediately.
