Terms of use

This is the English translation of the German original. In case of discrepancies, the German version prevails.

As of: 31 August 2026

Scope

These terms apply to the use of Vryne between the organisation and the provider named in the imprint. The offer is aimed exclusively at entrepreneurs within the meaning of § 14 of the German Civil Code (BGB) as well as associations and public bodies — not at consumers.

Service

Vryne searches an organisation’s documents and answers questions about them with supporting passages. Answers are generated by language models and can be wrong. They do not replace professional, legal or medical advice — the citations exist so that every statement can be checked against the original. Responsibility for using an answer remains with the organisation.

Accounts and roles

An account belongs to a person, not a department. Within an organisation there are two roles: admin manages members, knowledge base and settings, member reads and asks. Sign-in works through a one-time link to the stored e-mail address; access to that mailbox must therefore be protected like a password.

Public organisations

An organisation can make its knowledge base public. Its member admins decide this voluntarily; the following applies:

  • Publicly visible are the name, description, number of members and documents as well as the address /o/<slug> — it is indexed by search engines and does not change.
  • Publicly queryable are the uploaded documents: anyone can ask questions about them and receives answers with supporting passages, without an account.
  • Controller for the publicly provided content remains the organisation. It ensures that it may share the documents publicly and is the controller within the meaning of the GDPR for the personal data it uploads. Vryne is merely the provider of the technical platform.
  • Liability: for answers to questions about a public knowledge base, only the operating organisation is liable. Vryne does not warrant that the answers are complete, correct or up to date.
  • Blocking: if a public organisation violates the law or these terms, we may withdraw public visibility immediately and block the profile until the situation is remedied.

Your content

The uploaded documents remain yours. You grant us only the rights necessary for operation: storing, splitting into sections, embedding and using them for answers. You confirm that you hold the necessary rights to the uploaded content and that you transmit personal data of third parties only insofar as you are authorised to do so.

Insofar as we process personal data on your behalf, a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR applies in addition. The service providers used are listed under subprocessors.

What is not allowed

  • Uploading content for which the necessary rights are missing
  • Using other people’s access or passing on credentials
  • Circumventing tenant separation or quotas
  • Automated mass queries that impair operation

Quotas and remuneration

Vryne is in a test phase. During this time no base fee is charged — neither for the organisation nor per access. Only actual usage is billed.

Usage is billed in credits. How much a question costs depends on the selected model and follows actual consumption, not a flat rate. Admins decide how the quota is distributed and what happens when it is used up. All prices are plus the applicable VAT.

Credits are purchased in advance. Credits are tied to the organisation, do not expire and do not lapse; no subscription arises from this. There is no claim to a payout of unused credits.

Test phase and future prices

A pricing model with a base fee is in preparation. We reserve the right to introduce it after the end of the test phase; it will be announced like any other change to these terms — at least 30 days in advance and in text form.

Organisations that exist at the end of the test phase will be moved to an official free plan as long as they do not choose a paid one. Its scope may differ from that of the test phase — for example in storage, model selection or number of requests. Credits already purchased remain unaffected.

The test phase may end at any time. No claim to the continuation of the scope of functions, individual models or a particular price arises from it.

Purchase via CopeCart

Purchases run through CopeCart (CopeCart GmbH, Berlin), which acts as the merchant. The purchase contract for a credit package is concluded between the organisation and CopeCart; CopeCart issues the invoice, pays the VAT and processes the payment. Its terms apply to that extent. CopeCart is therefore the right address for invoices, payment methods, cancellations and refunds.

After confirmed payment we automatically credit the organisation’s account, usually within a few minutes. If the credit does not arrive, a message with the order number to support@vryne.com is enough.

If a payment is reversed — refund, returned direct debit, chargeback — we may deduct the associated credits from the balance, even if the account thereby goes negative, and block further requests until it is settled.

Availability

We strive for an availability of 99.5 % per calendar month, excluding planned maintenance. Planned maintenance windows are announced where possible and kept outside the usual business hours of the German market wherever reasonable. This availability commitment does not apply to outages caused by circumstances outside our control (force majeure, third-party network or provider failures, attacks).

Individual models may cease to exist if a provider discontinues them; where possible we replace them with a comparable model.

Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence as well as for injury to life, body and health. For simple negligence we are liable only for breach of essential contractual obligations and limited to the foreseeable damage typical for the contract. We accept no warranty for the content of machine-generated answers.

Termination

Either party may terminate at any time. After termination we make the data available for export for 30 days on request and delete it afterwards.

Inactive organisations

An organisation in which nobody has signed in and no request has been made for at least six months may be put into dormant state by us and subsequently deleted together with documents, conversations and memberships. We announce this at least 30 days in advance by e-mail to the admins; a sign-in within this period preserves the organisation. Organisations with remaining credit are not deleted in this way.

Changes to these terms

We announce changes at least 30 days in advance in text form. Anyone who does not object continues the contract under the new terms; in the event of an objection, the contract ends when the change takes effect.

Governing law and jurisdiction

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The exclusive place of jurisdiction is Braunschweig, insofar as the organisation is a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law.
